Alumna Awarded MBE by the Queen
Congratulations to UWS graduate Carol Burt-Wilson who received an MBE for services to Disability Hate Crime Prevention in the summer. Carol attended The Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, The Queen’s official residence in Scotland, in July 2019 to receive her MBE from The Queen in recognition of her achievements with the charity I Am Me that she founded in 2013.
Carol commented: “I Am Me Scotland is a fantastic example of community empowerment and successful partnership working. I am also delighted to have the support of UWS for the Keep Safe initiative.”
Carol, who graduated in 2009 with a BA in Human Resource Management from UWS, founded the project to help raise awareness of Disability Hate Crime and to raise awareness of the various methods for reporting incidents and crimes. ...
