An indie band made up of University of the West of Scotland (UWS) graduates is getting ready to release their new EP recorded at UWS Ayr Campus studios. KB & The Raskals is a Scottish indie band known for their heartfelt songwriting, energetic performances, and forward-thinking approach to modern music. The band formed in 2023 at UWS and consists of lead singer Katelyn Baxter, bassist Dominic Rafferty, guitarist Robert Lithgow and percussionist Jamie McAtee. A University of the West of Scotland (UWS) graduate has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of the Enterprise Seychelles Agency (ESA). Dylis Cedras, who holds an MBA in business management from UWS, has 17 years of experience in the public service, having begun her career in 2008 as a Secondary School Teacher with the Ministry of Education. Before joining the Seychelles Islands Foundation (SIF), serving as Visitor Centre and Sales Manager from 2012 to 2013, Dylis subsequently served as a Business Analyst at the Financial Services Authority between 2014 and 2015. A Christmas promotional video produced by a University of the West of Scotland (UWS) graduate for a small independent gift shop in Dunoon has gone viral. The advert for shop Doon The Watter, that stocks work by local Crafters & Artists, was created and edited by Videographer Graeme McGill and has been viewed over 40,000 times by people from as far as Canada and Australia. A University of the West of Scotland (UWS) alumnus has signed an ongoing deal with critically acclaimed music label Café del Mar. Joe Hume, a pianist and composer originally from Ayrshire, previously attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music at the age of 17 before going on to study in Paisley and graduate from the BSc Music Technology degree at UWS. His track Angelica features on the Café del Mar 45th Anniversary compilation album, celebrating 45 years of soundtracking sunsets in Ibiza.
