Rogers Corporation Announces Alumna in Interim CFO Role

A University of the West of Scotland (UWS) graduate has been named as interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Rogers Corporation, a global leader in engineered materials, headquartered in Arizona, USA. Laura Russell, who graduated from University of Paisley (now UWS) in 1997 with a BA Business Economics with Finance, assumed the role of Interim CFO on 12 August 2024 following the resignation of CFO Ram Mayampurath. Following graduation Laura took a role as Automotive Financial Analyst with Freescale Semiconductors before moving to the US with NXP who acquired Freescale Semiconductors. UWS Alumna Named Young African Business Leader of the Year 2024

A University of the West of Scotland (UWS) graduate has been named as co-winner of the Young African Business Leader of the Year 2024 at the prestigious African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA). Dr Jesca Nkwabi, who is based in Tanzania, graduated from UWS London Campus in 2020 with a Doctorate in Business Administration and has been recognised for her outstanding achievements as the CEO of KOM Group, where she has significantly contributed to business growth and youth empowerment across the continent. University of the West of Scotland (UWS) Aircraft Engineering graduate, Nathalie Samson, is thankful to UWS for helping her reach the heights and achieve her dream of becoming an engineer. As recently as 2017, Nathalie was working in Mexico as a Line Logistics Agent on the shop floor of global aerospace company Bombardier Aerospace, right underneath part of a business jet fuselage, and dreaming of becoming an engineer. “Being so close to the structure made me realise just how fascinated I am by airplanes and how much I would love to work on these incredible pieces of engineering as an engineer. David, who graduated in Mental Health Nursing from UWS, is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse working in British Columbia, Canada. Enrolling in 2003 at the then University of Paisley (now UWS Paisley Campus), David worked as a community health nurse following graduation in 2006, working in Scotland for 7 years before emigrating. A University of the West of Scotland (UWS) Sport Coaching graduate has taken up a coaching role with Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) team the Los Angeles Sparks. Neil Harrow, originally from East Kilbride, will be moving to Southern California from Virginia, where he was coaching at James Madison University (JMU), to serve as an assistant coach for three-time WNBA champions Los Angeles Sparks. An international graduate from University of the West of Scotland (UWS) has released a new novel inspired, in part, from her time studying in Scotland. Karen Spears Zacharias is an American writer, a former journalist, and author of numerous books. She completed an MA in Creative Media Practice at University of the West Scotland’s Ayr Campus in 2022. For me, Paisley was as much of a historical figure as Carrie. Once a thriving textile centre, time has diminished the town. I was mesmerized by Paisley’s and Carrie’s shared fates, as both were cut off from that which made them fertile.
