Alumna Delivers Keynote at UWS HRM Engagement Event

Business graduate, and Group Head of People at Arnold Clark, Lynne McBurney was the keynote speaker at the UWS Human Resources Management (HRM) Engagement Event on Wednesday 30 January 2019.

Over 50 students attended to hear Lynne’s talk, and presentations from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the professional association for human resource management professionals, and colleagues from Careers and Alumni. A number of volunteers of our level 9 HRM student body also launched the new HRM Society, ushering in a new era of student engagement and support.

Lynne graduated in 1998 from the Paisley Campus and joined Arnold Clark over 13 years ago as an HR advisor rising to Group Head of People. Lynne’s overriding objective is to create a culture at Arnold Clark where people choose to come and work and want to dedicate themselves to the organisation’s success. She was awarded the Rising Star title for the 2018 Diversity Awards for her work in making Arnold Clark an inclusive and supportive workplace. Lynne also collected the Employer of the Year award at the 2018 Business Women Scotland and WES Scotland Awards.

HRM programme Leader Silvio Hofmann said: “I was delighted that Lynne was able to come in and speak with our students about her career and the challenges facing HRM professionals”.

“The feedback from our students has been excellent. We look forward to making this an annual event in the School of Business & Enterprise and introducing many more inspiring alumni to our students.”
