Two former students at Paisley College of Technology (now UWS) have recently celebrated 28 years of marriage thanks to their studies.

Little did Jonathan and Jacqueline know that when they chose to study in Paisley that they would meet their life partner, and were it not for a party in their student accommodation, life might have been different for both of them.

Jonathan said: “I was in my final year of an Industrial Engineering Honours degree and Jackie was in the first year of her BA Applied Social Studies degree and we both lived in the same block of flats on Lady Lane right next to the Paisley Campus.  The flats had just been renovated and we were the first ones in that year.”

As I was in my final year I was on the ground floor in my own room and I remember two others in the flat had to share a room.  Jackie was living in the top floor flat.  There was a party in the middle floor flat and that is how we met.”   

Jonathan, who is now Senior Director of Technology at Publicis Sapient, took a position in London following graduation in 1988 and was joined by Jacqueline who had changed course to Middlesex Polytechnic. 

The couple who had met on Paisley Campus in April 1988 married in January of 1994. 

Jonathan said: “We have a 17 year old daughter Natasha and the rest as they say is history!”
