Former Student Athlete Lands Basketball Coaching Role at Allegheny College

A New York native who travelled to Scotland to undertake his postgraduate qualification at University of the West of Scotland (UWS) has been appointed as an assistant coach for the Allegheny College men’s basketball team.

Kris Carroll, who graduated with a MSc in International Management from UWS Paisley Campus in 2023, was a star player for the UWS basketball team helping them to reach the Scottish Student Basketball championship finals. Carroll also played for the Renfrew Rocks, who compete in the Scottish Basketball Championship (SBC) Division I.

Reflecting on his time studying at UWS Kris said: “My time in Scotland was great and I am extremely grateful to have had that experience. I learned a lot about myself on and off the court.

“It really cemented the idea of basketball having to be a part of my life as long as I live, no matter the capacity, and I was able to get started on that sooner than I expected.”

Before traveling to Scotland, Kris who hails from Brooklyn, spent one season at Farmingdale State College and was a part of the 2018-19 Skyline Conference championship team. He was also a two-year member of the basketball team at Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina.
