In this alumni interview we speak to Alan Williamson, who graduated from the University of Paisley (now UWS Paisley campus) in 1994 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Computing Science with Digital Control.

Now based in the USA, Alan is Chief Technology Officer and Partner of the Portfolio Operations Group for New Harbor Capital. He is also an author, entrepreneur, lecturer and a Java Champion.

Alan discusses his time studying in Paisley and his early career in the UK following graduation, before a pivotal moment where he “jumped into the Java space” becoming a Java Champion and ultimately taking his career overseas.

His latest book is titled Think Like a CTO and shares his experiences and advice of veteran CTOs and industry experts for handling IT crises and leading tech teams.
