A University of the West of Scotland (UWS) graduate has been named as co-winner of the Young African Business Leader of the Year 2024 at the prestigious African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA).
Dr Jesca Nkwabi, who is based in Tanzania, graduated from UWS London Campus in 2020 with a Doctorate in Business Administration and has been recognised for her outstanding achievements as the CEO of KOM Group, where she has significantly contributed to business growth and youth empowerment across the continent.
Jesca commented: “I’m deeply honoured to be recognised as Young African Business Leader of the Year 2024.
This recognition serves as a reminder for me to continue striving for excellence to positively impact development in Tanzania and Africa and to inspire and mentor more youth in their entrepreneurship journeys.”
The Young Business Leader of the Year Award recognizes a young African business leader, 40 years of age or below, whose outstanding business successes and verifiable business journey have made them role models and inspirational success stories in the marketplace.

CEO of KOM Group of companies, Jesca is also the Director of KOM Food Products. KOM Group started in 2002 and today employs 300 people. Currently, KOM Group has investments in oil processing, cotton ginning, agriculture, steel, plastic and pipe manufacturing, food, and beverages.
Jesca is also actively involved in initiatives that promote entrepreneurial activities among youth and women. She serves as the Chairperson of Young women entrepreneurs and is also a member of Women Power Africa and Women empowerment Network and Lionesses of Africa.
The African Leadership Magazine hosted the prestigious African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) at the iconic Dorchester Hotel in London on 17 July 2024. This event, a highlight of the ALM 9th Africa Summit 2024, celebrated visionary leadership and transformative impact by honouring exceptional business leaders, policymakers and organizations for their significant contributions to Africa’s socio-economic development.
