UWS Alumna Launches New Book at Events Across the UK

The exciting new novel from a University of the West of Scotland (UWS) alumna will officially launch on 8 October 2024 with an event at Waterstones in Glasgow followed by events in Leeds and London.

Chloe C Peñaranda is releasing The Stars Are Dying, book one in Nytefall, a trilogy unravelling a star-crossed love story featuring characters Astraea and Nyte.

The USA Today bestselling author of The Nytefall Trilogy and An Heir Comes to Rise Series told The Renfrewshire Gazette: “I’m very excited and nervous for the book launch. This is the first time I’ve done anything like this.

“I’m excited to find out more about the local readership because it is probably louder than I think it is.”

A lifelong avid reader and writer, Chloe discovered her passion for storytelling in her early teens. Her stories have been spun from years of building on fictional characters and exploring Tolkien-like quests in made up worlds.

During her time at UWS, studying Computer Animation with Digital Art in Paisley, Chloe immersed herself in writing for short film, producing animations, and spending class time dreaming of far off lands.

The book is set in a world abandoned by its celestial guardians and left to suffer a tyrant king’s reign, all Astraea can recall are the fragmented memories of the past five years. She’s determined to discover more about her past, even if that means leaving behind the only safety and security she has ever known by venturing out into a world where bloodthirsty vampires are rumoured to roam.

Making her way in an unfamiliar world, she encounters the mysterious Nyte, who makes her an offer she cannot refuse. As Astraea accepts Nyte’s help, she is drawn in by his darkness and she begins to wonder if she has struck a deal with one of the ruthless beings her people have always feared. Is fighting for the safety of her kingdom worth more than answering questions about her past?

“I couldn’t be more thrilled and touched that Nyte and Astraea are taking us to the stars with our dreams“, said Chloe.

“I can’t wait for them to find so many more readers, this story is so special to me.”
