Inspiring Finance Leader and Alumna Celebrated at Graduation

An inspiring finance leader and alumna has been recognised as part of University of the West of Scotland’s winter graduations. 

Angela Noon OBE, Group Chief Financial Officer of precision instrumentation and controls group, Spectris PLC and who is also a alumna and the former Chief Financial Officer at Royal Mail, was celebrated as part of a ceremony taking place at Paisley Abbey on Friday 15 November 2024.

Angela, who graduated from the University of Paisley (now UWS) in 1996 with a BA in Accounting, is a chartered management accountant with more than 25 years of finance and commercial experience.

Discussing her Honorary Doctorate from UWS, Angela Noon OBE said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to receive this award from UWS, particularly as an alumni of this fantastic institution. It has been wonderful to hear the success stories of the UWS students as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.”

Angela is also currently a member of the Supervisory Board of Just Eat Takeaway N.V. and Chair of their Audit Committee. Angela has spent over 20 years in various international leadership roles at Siemens AG in digitalisation, industrial software and business development. Angela was awarded an OBE in 2022, for services to further education.

Siobhan White, Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching within the School of Business and Creative Industries at UWS, delivered Angela’s laureation, which reflected on her impressive career in finance and business and her contribution to education. 

Professor James Miller, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of UWS, said: “As part of the ceremony, we were delighted to present Angela Noon OBE with this Honorary Doctorate. A friend of UWS, Angela is an inspiration to our students, particularly to those following career aspirations in the fields of finance and business. Angela shared valuable insights and lessons today during the ceremony which I’m sure will have been of great interest and benefit to our students.”
